Mic: Am sticking with this for a while, but I still answer to Jason... lol

3 out of 7 went through, and they all looked like comp chasers. Usually I'd feel a little disgruntled by that, but I feel now that they just understand how judging works better than others. Here are some basic facts if you want to score points with judges (not just at CCC, but in general I think). Put an effort into your attire and you'll get points in the appearance catagory. Learn the words and don't look at the monitor and it gives you more opportunity to engage the audience and score points in the stage presentation catagory.

What I'm starting to realise more and more is that the 'soft' catagories of stage presentation and appearance are the areas where you can pick up easy points. Dress up and in keeping with the song, look everyone in the eye and move around a bit and you're half way to a good score. Anyone who's seen Lyndon sing knows that he's not the best singer in the world but he gets the crowd going and he does it by making you believe he's enjoying himself up there.

Kurt implied before that the comp should come down to singing ability. If everyone did the above, it would come back down to singing ability. I'm hoping those who are entering a comp can take this advise and put in a better performance than they otherwise would. And make no mistake, I'm in a final in a few weeks time and I'll be milking it as much as I can!
