In regards to the competition currently at CCC. I was just reading your thoughts on it and as you know I was a contestant on Saturday night. You are right about a couple of points, two of the three people who got through are comp chasers, Garry and Steve, although from what I know about Steve he is a professional singer who has his own Elvis shows. What got to me about Steve was that he came in with Jim Porter, handed in his form on the night and was automatically in that night. Had I been thinking straight and not coming down with this bug that I have now, then I would have gone and withdrawn my entry and sung on another night. I knew I stood no chance against him. Rocky is not a comp chaser. He doesn't even come to karaoke all that often. He has been in the contest at CCC twice to my knowledge, he was not in last year's competition.
As for myself, were you made aware of the fact that I was not supposed to be in the competition that night? I nformed Jim Porter of that fact and that I was neither dressed for the competition nor was I really prepared for it. I was supposed to go into the heat this coming Saturday, but due to some people not turning up, that was how I got myself 'drafted' into the competition. I had both Mick and Joe at me saying 'come on Roz, you can do this, you can get into the semi-finals from this heat.' I am not saying I would have gotten through to the semi finals, but I know for a fact that not being appropriately dressed for the competition would have gone against me. I know you cannot give away who scored what points and I am not asking you to, I am only asking what you were told by Jim Porter in regards to what I told him when I went over to choose my songs. I thought the other judge was hopeless and I know he is a mate of Mick's and wanted to do it, but I don't know what he knew about karaoke.
