Barri Tone and Leather Baron

I had a look at one of the entry forms for the talent contest today and there is absolutely NO MENTION whatsoever of a person NOT being allowed to have a second go at the contest. Mick has gone down to CCC tonight (he is not working) and I have asked him to make some enquiries from the Club, I will see if he remembers to do this. If not, I will make enquiries next Saturday when I go there. Barri Tone, I didn't know that you were rolled by Robert A!!! I know that he scored full marks for his Elvis costume, but I thought that he got in because one of the people who was named on stage as one to go through to the semi-finals had left without waiting to hear the results. I can remember Jim Porter saying that contestants have to wait around to see who is named to go through to the semi-finals, but there again, there is nothing about that in the entry form either. So are they just making up the rules as they go along?? Leather Baron, did Jim say anything to you about contestants having to stay around until the results were known?? I know that you left before the announcements were made, but that is due to you having to rely on public transport.

I do believe that this is worth checking out, not only because of what happened with me, but in fairness for everyone who goes into the contest. There should be a clear set of rules displayed on the entry form and those rules are for everyone. I am definitely NOT asking for special favours or to be allowed to go back into another round if I am not allowed to. If it turns out that people can go into another round (providing that there are not too many people in the heat, I have heard that there are supposed to be no more than 7 people in each heat, but there again, there were a couple of heats last year where there were 9 and 11 people in them respectively) then I might try again, I don't know at present. This is also another thing too, if there are 11 people in a heat, is it fair to just take 3 people through to the semi finals?? I have known some heats that 4 people have gone through to the semi finals, but that doesn't always happen.

The rules for this contest (and indeed any talent contest) need to be prominately and clearly displayed on the entry form. The entry form has been the same for every contest that has been held at CCC. The form itself was one that was originally used for a talent contest at St. Mary's Band Club and the wording changed for CCC. That form has been around for a few years, so maybe next year the form should be completely re-done.

I would like to hear from anyone else who has been in the contest at CCC over the years and like Barri Tone was 'rolled' by someone and told that he/she could not go into another round. The one thing on the form that may cover this is that it says 'only one entry per person' - so does that mean only one entry form or that a person can only enter the contest once?? As Leather Baron says, this really needs a lot of clarification.

Have a good night everyone. I am going to watch some TV something that I don't usually get to do on a Tuesday night.
