From the Where2sing.com forum:

David & Trish,

I like what Trish is suggesting and the reason is this: I think that minimum details on the gig of an unsubscribed host would not result in less singer subscriptions, just less singers to those gigs. Several questions now present themselves.

1) Is the difference of patronage due to not wanting to go to a gig with which you don't have all the information about (or is more of an unknown quantity) or is it going to be due to a form of descrimination. The first reason is understandable, the second one is something to avoid.

2) What information is included and what is left off? I think restricting basic information about the gig that would mis-represent it to a subscribed singer or require the singer to get the information by calling the venue themselves is not the way to go. I'm talking here about the full address of the venue and start and finish times. What I think should be left out is information that would aid the subscribed singer in choosing one venue over another, that being crowd size/type, drink prices, bistro info, parking etc.

The only concern that I have with this is that it represents a kind of blackmail in order to force hosts to subscribe. Having said that, I'm sure the same could be said about Optus offering a cheaper line rental over Tel$tra and Tel$tra feeling the need to drop their prices...
