From the Where2sing.com forum:

Kititude I hope that you are feeling better and your recovery is swift.
Singing though when you have bronchitis (in my opinion) is rather silly as you can harm yourself as well as spreading your germs to your friends and other singers.
For a start if you catch more germs while you have bronchitis you could end up with acute bronchitis which if not treated you may end up in Hospital.
Acute Bronchitis will take you at least 8 weeks before your feeling better/or cured.
As the debate has gone before on here “should singers sing whilst they are sick”?
I believe that singers have an obligation to stay away from Karaoke or at least resist the urge to sing if they are sick so that they don’t spread their germs to other singers.
You say that you “only sang one song, but that was enough for me”.
That may have also been enough for you to either catch more germs yourself, because your imunity is low or may have been enough to pass your condition onto friends and singers alike.
What is bronchitis? Well it usually occurs along with or after an episode of throat infection. A throat infection is caused by germs (bacteria or viruses) that enter through the nose or the mouth. These germs are usually spread in the air by others who have these conditions. Sometimes, germs that cause these infections are transferred from one person to another by sharing other objects. (Microphones?)
Once again I hope you get well soon.
Kind regards
Kev
