To use the word 'beaten' David implys that the whole thing is a race, and I dont know about you but I dont intend to be running for the rest of my life. I guess what disappoints and frustrates me the most is that whilst you are merely a singer, coupled with not being a seasoned business person, you are niave enough to believe everything that hosts tell you. Most that I spoke to also said that they only do it because they love the singing aspect and want to share it with other people. They make it sound like such a close, friendly industry to be in where everyone has loads of fun. Go on, accuse me of having tickets on myself, but I have found this industry anything but that, and I will be so bold as to say, especially when you are a 5 foot 2, 45 kilo, 42 year old woman who looks 28 and still has all my own teeth. Its definetely no coincidence that all the people who have caused trouble for me in this industry are women.
I have seriously considered getting out, because as is very clear I am not of the right mettle to be a business person. But I am determined to carry on and at least try to ignore the jealousy and knives in my back, and get back to having some fun. I am also determined, when everybody stops talking about this, to stay as far away from these damn websites as I can. Cause as far as Im concerned they are half the trouble. Before you start bellowing, I know Ive brought most of it on myself, but if I hadnt been advised by a reputable operator to get on here and get myself known, I would never have even known this one existed in the first place. And if these websites werent here there would have been nowhere for me to go and 'dribble' in the first place either. You say all business is basically the same, but you dont see plumbers with shout boxes and chatrooms and public forums do ya?
