| From the Where2sing.com forum: Hi Shazzy , indeed word of mouth is the stuff that makes or breaks a venue and yes most managers are very concern of there over-all reputation , what a lot of people don't really understand is that karaoke is only one piece of the pie and there are customers to please the other 6 six nights of the week, Shazzy if you remember Joann & I and other staff members would stop at nothing and would work hard to promote my karaoke nights right through out the entire week because i'm a very great believer in the 'word of mouth ' theory and lets face it really its the cheapest form of advertising and the best , ....here's a little tip for budding hosts if you get a venue do not be afraid to go to that venue a couple of nights of the week and start 'meeting and greeting ' regular punters , talk with them and ( in a casual way ) promote your show at the venue , let them start to respect you , the boss will love you for it , the punters will love you and spread the word , it works and its pretty cheap advertising , OH don't be afraid to buy a few rounds ........the internet is a new form of ' word of mouth ' so yes , as with everything with promotion , please watch your P's & Q'S , always have a mind set that you are promoting you business 24 hours a day....
