| From the Where2sing.com forum: HI ALL....I really do-not want to get involved in this subject 'the rights & wrongs of competitions' ,but hey!! ,lets put this into cold hard facts , 1st... comps are mainly design to keep hosts and there jobs well embedded at any one venue 2nd...so that venue can turnover a greater amount of business and then last... maybe we will devolop some great talents that will keep the Australian music industry afloat for years to come Mmmmm! ,now as i'm sure Peter.M knows ,many suitably qualified judges will have very little or nothing to do with many karaoke comps ,and i'm sure many won't work for a meal & a couple of drinks ,UNLESS the comp will directly & primary help artist 'get a leg up' , So ofcouse you will find many unsuitable qualified judges at many of these comps .... but there is another side to the coin , should many karaoke singers be judged by / or want to be judged by SUITABLY qualified judges , as many people have said on this and other forums , they use comps as money spinners, some as part time jobs ,so many of the so called artists are only in it for what they can get out of it themselfs , just like the hosts & venue ,so really are Comps just Allround money making scheme's that has little to do with devoloping young talent for the greater good of the music industry..Mmmmmmmm!
