From the Where2sing.com forum:

I attended the last karaoke gig of an RSL club, here in NSW, last night.
There was an older chap there who sang a seldom performed Elvis Presley number called 'My Baby Left Me' (I think) and as an Elvis fan, I have to say he did it very well. He had some dance moves / wiggles going for him which were impressive given his frame and apparent age and really was very entertaining. I think karaoke needs more of that. Don't you? I've heard comments from karaoke patrons over the years suggesting that such entertainers lift the standard and increase the credibility of karaoke. I just wonder why it is that many singers just stand and sing at the screen even when not nervous in the least. If karaoke had MORE entertainers (especially the non-chaser variety), I think people's attitude towards it as a pastime would change drastically and it would get more respect, attention and backing. Should karaokers be encouraged to be a little more entertaining in their performances before their audiences? Maybe a free voucher or something redeemable at the venue could be given as a prize to the patron who puts on the best performance in the audience's view? The only restriction being that they can't have won the week before or something. I don't know. What do you guys think?
