Hi Everyone

Thought I would just pop by and let you all know why there hasn't been a write up about Mark Wilson winning the Karaoke World Championships yet nor a webpage update until now. Bill and I arrived back in Australia yesterday morning and have just woken up. We're still getting over the jetlag, but that can wait. We've been busy negotiating for next year's comp along with setting up media interviews for Mark (most of which were set up during the early hours of the morning due to the time difference - hence, I've had no sleep and a huge phone bill!). It was a nice to have the media show an interest in karaoke for a change (goodness knows we've had a few promises in the past...) He has been interviewed nationally on radio, TV and newspapers nearly everyday for the past two weeks. Three more radio interviews are coming up on Friday. He was also interviewed by the international press before the cruise was over. Plus his win made the evening and late news last week. Now that we have time to breathe, I'll get Bill on the case!

We are really proud of Mark. He is a really nice person and was so much fun to have with us. He won the hearts of everyone aboard the ship, especially the Irish. He performed well - even though the stage was occasionally rocking from side to side at times while at sea - through 5 elimination rounds over two days to take out the title. The competition was tough but Mark took the bull by the horns and showed them what he was made of.

We also had some great Australian company in our support team. Shai Elise, winner of Karaoke Dokey, was there with her Mum, Jean. What great people! They brought their Aussie flags and cheered Mark all of the way to the end. Darryl Hayden from Capital Karaoke also came along for the ride. We had so much fun. Darryl has a great sense of humour. I don't think I have laughed as much as I did with this group, including Mark & Bill, in a long time.

Thailand were announced as the host country for KWC 2007. Mark has won a trip there as the reigning champion to hand over his title. Details will be posted as soon as they come to hand and everyone is invited to come along, join in the excitement and meet karaoke singers from all over the world. It truely is an unforgettable event!

Thank you to Teresa for her update posts. Congratulations also to Vicky Tham Hui Chyi from Malaysia who won the women's section.

I'll get Bill to do a write up of the event a.s.a.p. including Mark's song choices and photos.
