THANK YOU ALL: For your comments – all are taken on board, seriously.

This is actually a Work-In-Progress Karaoke Comp for me. I loathe the standard karaoke comp with a vengeance – it brings nothing but “bad-will” all round, with after-comp bitching lasting forever – I have vowed NEVER again to hold another one of those karaoke comp at my venue.

There are losers who cry foul play and scream to the karaoke world how they have been “robbed”. They are others who proclaim they can do much better then the last comp winner. There are those who belittle those comp-chasers who peddle their 2-3 song repertoire to every comp, year in year out, for the last 25 years … Many of us believe that some comps are rigged. Some of us go as far as saying that most comp judges are tone-deaf, or are just absolute musical-morons.

To silence all those, I want to run a comp, for all of them to put up $$$money$$$, to prove their points, to push their own barrels, to have their time on stage!

Yes, this will be a comp for the “purists” (as BARRI TONE suggested). No, I agree with the rest of you, it will NOT be a spectator event … and yes, you all are so right, it will be a boring night indeed – so, I will NOT subject an audience to hearing the same song, again and again.

PS: MUSIC ADDICT : My sentiments exactly - which is why I came up with this idea in the first place - I do not wish to hear 'perfect' songs done 'exactly the same' as the originals - by having everyone sing the same songs 'forces' them to improvise and make those songs 'their very own', and 'personalising ' those songs.
