hey there guys... hope everyone is well...

ok ..sammo
now that i am awake(kinda) , the idea has merit i will say that but i agree with johnny b in that $250 maybe a little steep for some...especially if your looking for 50 contestants...but if you throw in the idea of corp. sponsorship it maybe able to reduce the entry fee but still keep your costings the same... and is this going to be attatched to a current venue you are working with? if your looking at drinks, meals etc look into discussins with them re cost cuttings..i do know of a company who used to sponsor some events such as yours that we used to work with but i am unsure of if they still are using this advertising medium(from their perspective)... this could all come together with an effective marketing package... we used them for a talent comp a few years ago and forged a great relationship and as they are a HUGE international entity ..... i will try to make contact with the appropriate places and get back to you...
now that i have had some sleep i feel better about giving my opinion..
yes if your looking at outside the karaoke singer pool as a base of talent i am right there with you.. some punters as you have said are a little 'uneducated' (im beieng nice) but you get my point.. and will do nothing but carry on.. but if your looking at the semi pro group with the right processes in place this could fly.. the base plan is good and i know its a wip... keep evolving it the more i read from yourself and others throwing in their bits this could become something intertesting...johnny b's thought re the songs works well
i have just been re - reading your game plan and the only other thing i say is loose e and f - dont be too structured with the rules etc...i agree i am not generally a fan of the structured comp... no i rephrase that i am DEFINATLY NOT A FAN OF COMP CHASERS as anyone who knows me will tell you...i am though a supporter of the venu holding something that is rewarding to its regulars...
i love my karaoke and the wonderful people it has bought into my life..the experiences of the good the bad and the downright ugly have made it an awsome ride..i think what you are looking at though maybe a little threatening to your average punter to have to preform after this event so throw it in during the night.. not nessecarily at the start...it keeps the contestants and co there longer too instead of the sing and run thing i see around.....keep working on it .... it could be interesting...
