From the Where2sing.com forum:

*Sigh* Here we go again...

Firstly, can I ask the caps not be on the whole time, it makes it very hard to read, especially a rant.

Secondly, it's a fallacy that you can only access the gig guide by subscribing. You see the venue name and it's suburb. Want to know where it is? Call Telstra. As David has stated many times (including the most recent newsletter if memory serves), you can gain access to the complete gig guide by submitting feedback to a venue.

Thirdly, most gig guides around Sydney are not free. They cost, whether it be because you had to buy the paper that it comes in, or something less financially tangible like only reading about gigs from venues that supplied their details in the first place and have advertised with the periodical.

The W2S gig guide is unique in that it is compiled by punters and venues/ops alike. In fact, the vast majority of the listings in the first year were from the general public, it wasn't until more recently that hosts and venues realised what a bonanza this database was that they started paying much more attention to keeping the general public informed.

Do you really want venues and hosts to advertise? Do you really only want to know about the karaoke gigs that have paid to be in here, or do you want to know about them all? Do you only want to find out about new gigs through the grapevine, or do you not realise that this is the best, most organised grapevine available?

You're more than welcome to travel to new gigs and put up with the many bad in order to find the few good, but I'll continue to spend US$1 (or contribute venue feedback) and not be an SWD.

Meet karaoke hosts and singers in the Where2sing.com forums . . .

KARAOKE in Australia

You've found the #1 website with the original and biggest karaoke gig listings database listing nearly 1,000 gigs across all states of Australia - each listing with full venue name, address, phone number plus extensive information about the gig itself. Read feedback from singers who have already visited the venue, and see information such as songlist size, crowd size, type of singer and even how much applause you can expect when you visit each gig.

Or visit the forums where both singers and hosts meet and chat - including State-chat forums where you can make friends whom you'll meet up with at a venue near you.

And there are the Gig Reviews, the constantly updated 'National Top 10 Karaoke Venues' chart, specialised lists of venues for Under 18s and currently running Competitions, lists for karaoke rooms, restaurants, karaoke hosts and supplliers, and karaoke news from all around the workd.

Of course, the best way to keep up to date is by opting in for the FREE weekly Karaoke News Email.
