Yes, some places can have a high-diva-factor (h-d-f) yet others can be a joy week in and week out despite the total lack of conventional singing ability. Note that I didn't say anything about lack of talent. Myself? I'm in it for the enjoyment factor and simply avoid venues with the h-d-f. Ironically, sometimes where2sing can hilight them. Eventually, those with vocal talent realise that audience enjoyment is reward in itself and there is no need to talk up your ability nor talk down others as talent generally needs no introduction. If you REALLY want to win $1,000 every ten weeks, or $100 every week, I can think of lots of ways of doing it. Yes, I'm in the anti-competition camp and believe that a venue that is succeeding has no need for these.
