Sorry for this long ramble peeps. Had a 'flow of consciousness' moment!

el barto...
First: Thanks for the heads up (re the line up), mate! I'm looking forward to hearing you sing your heart out too man (as will the ladies, I'm sure! Remember that!).
I have to admit that Graham's usual style (talking type jazz) isn't my cup of tea but when he sang Michael Buble's 'I Wanna Go Home' at Northmead Bowlo a couple of grand finals ago (where I was purely a spectator), I revised my opinion of his level of skill. I wish he'd sing like that more often cos it was truly lovely. Ironically, he only sang it at the request of his wife. Obviously, she knows what showcases his voice best! He is a good singer but I'd not heard it in him before that. 'Talky' Jazz doesn't do anyone's voice justice in my opinion.
Jhun on the other hand, I'm yet to hear do a song badly or one that DOESN'T showcase his voice. Like I said before, I think he's great.
I don't think I know either of the Jodies but in any case, I'm just gonna focus on having my own game together. You can't control other people's talent levels, so it's pointless to concern yourself with how much better than you you think they are or hoping that they don't turn up or even being intimidated by them in the first place. Let your own talent shine through cos that's what the audience is looking for no matter who you are. I've known absolute jerks get up and blow me away with their vocal talent (and whom I've resented for it a little, I admit) and I've known a multitude of deluded characters who think they're the best singer in the world when the truth in many cases is that they barely rate as mediocre. Some are good but not great. Some are great but not AS great as they think they are. Then there are people such as yourself, el barto, who don't realize just how good they are nor how great they could be. Slater's a great example. I've never known a more humble person with such a great voice and knowledge of how to use it, than he is. In the end though, whoever you are, if you get up on stage and impress an audience, that's what will endear you to them not how much like or different from that other singer you were. When you're on stage, they're looking at YOU (and if they're not, give them a reason to!). Giving it your all on stage is what it's about, win or not. You don't 'lose' cos the money wasn't yours to begin with. (Wow! Taking a break from comps has certainly mellowed me. I used to fret that I wasn't going to do well and focus on how badly I needed the money. I much prefer how I feel now with my current philosophy! lol. I've never won at Chatswood finals but it's gonna be cool to try!)

Second: OMG!!! Papa Frank got through??? Well, at least he won't be allowed to do his little gyrating dance in front of the stage and distract us since he'd be blocking the judges' line of sight. lol. He used to be a sweet old guy but recently, he's turned a little bitter, I think. I don't know why. Maybe he outlived the last of his good friends or something. That'd be pretty rough. Still, sweet or bitter, I don't think he'll be a threat to anyone in the comp. (Anyone who takes offence to that opinion is welcome to come along and form their own on the night - assuming Papa Frank shows up).

Finally, el barto, hopefully, we can play some more pool after the final finishes. I had a lot of fun the other night with Fitzy, you and Randy. Maybe I'll be back to my usual crappy playing self (but I hope not! Sinking 5 in a row in 2 consecutive games was most rewarding! lol).
