Crown Hotel karaoke I was going to continue with a 3rd week of Covent Garden stories - but as I was wandering in that direction last Saturday, something led me instead to the Crown on Elizabeth Street...
From the outside it's one of those standard Sydney corner pubs with enough doors to fool all but the most persistent - the correct entrance being the one into which a neanderthal-like but oft-times amenable bouncer has been stuffed.
Two steps iinside the door is the bar - but don't worry, they'll generally manage to ignore you until you move further round and obstruct traffic in front of the large columns. The same columns will serve alternatively to obstruct your view of the singing area, or to protect you from being seen and baled up by Wazza.
Wazza is a fixture of the Crown, apparently travelling over an hour to delight you with his leaps and weird wiggles - this diminutive, long-haired happy little person is totally unhampered by singing or dancing talent of any kind, and has become somewhat of a cult figure (in pubs from which he has not been barred). That he is also deaf (hence the mobile phone on his belt) seems to be of no hindrance to him, but does explain why the KJ needs . . .(full story on where2sing.com)
