Boiling PointI've been 'off the circuit' for a while due to incidents at a couple of comps I entered. In one comp, despite the ultimate winner's great voice, there was bias in the judging - the KJs were members of his family, and the extra judge was their mum! In another, the overall winner was far from the best performer (stage presence or voice) and she clearly won the event due to being a regular patron of the venue - the judges said as much when presenting the prize. Now I'm all for spending time at a venue other than for comps but I think if it's a karaoke comp surely the winner should at least be able to carry a tune?
